AI Brand Monitoring Whitepaper
AI Brand Monitoring: Find Errors and Track Corrections
Sample relevant AI answers, verify factual errors and choose a correction route. Keep a clear record of sources, actions and observed follow-up alongside your other reputation channels.

CH.01
Observe AI Answers Alongside Other Channels
AI answers are one place buyers may encounter your brand. Keep reviews, search results, customer questions and AI observations in the same evidence plan.
A buyer may ask about a company’s services, prices or comparisons. Save answers to relevant questions instead of assuming every buyer uses or believes the same response. Reviews and your website still provide useful information.
You can inspect sampled answers, but not every private conversation. Product, search mode, location, language and context can affect what you observe. Record the conditions rather than treating a screenshot as the public version of your reputation.
- →Choose questions relevant to your customers and the decisions they make.
- →Preserve the answer, date, product or mode and available source links.
- →Use each product’s documented feedback or reporting route where appropriate; it does not promise a corrected answer.
Next action
Start with a defined sample and an owner who can verify it. Add AI observations to existing reputation work rather than replacing the other channels.

CH.02
Separate Errors From Opinions and Omissions
Check the exact statement against current evidence. A negative opinion, an absent mention and a false factual claim require different decisions.
Search-enabled products can retrieve current web sources; they are not limited to training data. An answer can still be incomplete or wrong. Open cited pages and verify that they support the particular claim.

Prioritize by likely impact and evidence. A wrong published price or feature description may need correction; an opinion may reflect a real complaint, and a missing mention may simply be outside the answer’s scope. Record unknowns instead of assigning a universal revenue cost.
Next action
Record the disputed statement and the authoritative fact that supports a correction. Escalate material safety, privacy or legal concerns to the responsible team.
CH.03
Define a Useful Monitoring Sample
Make the sample appropriate to your audience, products and risk. A small scoped audit can establish a baseline; ongoing checks should answer a specific decision.
Define questions, relevant products and modes, collection conditions and review responsibilities. Record UI versus API, configuration, language, region and context; compare them as separate samples unless their equivalence is established.
Step 1
Select the questions
Use real customer questions about identity, services, prices or comparisons. Explain coverage and exclusions instead of prescribing a universal prompt count.
Step 2
Record the product and conditions
Identify the interface, mode, date and collection method. Preserve raw answers and links when permitted, with confidential information excluded.
Step 3
Classify each observation
Separate supported facts, factual errors, opinion, missing mention and unknown evidence. Note why a label was assigned and who checked it.
Step 4
Choose review triggers
Use risk, launches, material source changes and reported errors to set reviews. Keep a comparable baseline, and record question or method revisions.
| Observation | Verification question | Useful record |
|---|---|---|
| Factual statement | Does this price, feature or identity match current evidence? | Statement, authoritative source, date and reviewer |
| Entity confusion or omission | Is there a false assertion or only no mention in this answer? | Question, exact response, identity evidence and scope |
| Opinion or sentiment | Is this a judgment, a supported complaint or a factual allegation? | Context and grounds; do not label criticism an error by default |
| Comparison | Which criteria and sources shaped the comparison? | Criteria, linked evidence and known gaps |
A classification checklist, not a universal reputation score.
Next action
State the unit and denominator when reporting an error rate. Keep changed samples distinct; a difference alone does not reveal its cause.
CH.04
Choose the Appropriate Correction Route
Correct what you control, request justified changes elsewhere and use product feedback. These are different actions with different owners.
For AI Overviews on Android, Google documents problem feedback; OpenAI documents response reporting for safety or legal concerns. Follow the applicable product and issue route. A correction in your conversation or a submitted report is not proof that other users’ answers changed.
A linked page is evidence to inspect, not a complete account of generation. If it contains the error, propose a specific correction with support. If it does not, keep the cause unknown; do not claim access to private training data.
| Route | Appropriate action | Record to keep |
|---|---|---|
| Owned content | Correct inaccurate facts and make the current version understandable and accessible | Before/after, source of truth, date and owner |
| Third-party publication | Request an evidence-backed correction under the publisher’s rules | Request, support, response and unresolved points |
| Product feedback | Use the documented route for the observed issue | Product, response, issue and submission status |
| Follow-up observation | Recheck the affected question after a meaningful change | Conditions, result and whether the error persists |
Correction options; no route guarantees a platform’s future answer.
Next action
Prioritize a material error with strong evidence. Track the work separately from the observed result so a successful request is not mistaken for a successful answer correction.
CH.05
Keep Sources Accurate Without Manufacturing Consensus
Start with relevant pages and actual errors. Do not assume a fixed source-weight hierarchy or try to create a majority of promotional claims.
List cited or otherwise relevant pages, ownership and the fact requiring attention. A source can support one detail without supporting the whole answer. Correct legitimate information rather than buying praise or presenting coordinated material as independent evidence.
Source 1
Wikipedia and Wikidata
Check project eligibility and correction rules. Disclose conflicts and paid contributions where required; use appropriate edit requests. A Wikipedia page or QID is not a required citation credential.
Source 2
Directories and listings
Use authorized update channels for relevant listings. Keep names, services and dated prices accurate without inventing qualifications or reviews.
Source 3
Independent publications
Request factual corrections with evidence. Respect editorial independence and preserve criticism that is opinion rather than a false fact.
Source 4
Owned pages
Maintain clear product and pricing information with appropriate access and accurate identity data. Search eligibility does not guarantee inclusion; llms.txt is optional, not a prerequisite.
- →Record identity relationships accurately; do not flatten different products or organizations into one name.
- →Log each change or request, its evidence, owner and outcome.
- →Disclose sponsored relationships and avoid fake reviews, concealed advocacy or coordinated claims presented as independent.
Next action
Prioritize corrections by evidence, harm and your ability to act. Do not promise that repeated claims or a particular source will control AI descriptions.
CH.06
A Proportionate Correction Workflow
Use the record to decide what needs action, who owns it and when another observation is worthwhile.
An initial audit can identify a specific problem. Further monitoring should respond to material risk, change or a reported error, rather than run permanently without a decision it can inform.
| Trigger | Action | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Initial scope or material change | Collect the agreed sample and classify observations | Dated baseline and reviewable issue list |
| Potential material error | Verify the statement and available evidence | Classification, severity, known source and unknowns |
| Approved correction | Update owned facts or request a justified third-party/product review | Action record, responsible owner and status |
| Meaningful follow-up | Recheck affected questions under recorded conditions | Observed outcome, remaining issue and next decision |
Tenten’s recommended workflow; frequency is risk-based, not a universal weekly requirement.
- →Limit the record to observations that inform a decision; avoid repeated checks of unchanged material.
- →Assign collection, factual review and correction ownership, with appropriate privacy and legal escalation.
- →Review unresolved items and stop or reduce monitoring when its cost exceeds its decision value.
Next action
Measure the corrections you completed and the answers you actually observed. Keep unknown causes and coverage limits visible; no monitoring process captures every buyer conversation.

The former Gartner US$2.6 billion attribution was not established for this article and is removed; this is not proof of falsity. The workflow is Tenten’s recommendation, not a source-weight formula or proof of revenue impact. Product availability and policies can change; sample conditions and actual correction outcomes must be recorded.
