When selecting the AEO consultant, don't rush to ask "You can get me on the AI engine for a few days." The real question is: How do you prove that my brand is being quoted in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI without being quoted? Taiwan now has a lot of AEO branded services, but few can turn visibility into a verifiable number. This article makes clear the seven criteria for selecting a consultant, the fee lines, and the details that should be asked during the interview.
AEO, what exactly did the counselor help you with?
The AEO (Answer Engineering Openisation, Optimizing the Engine of Answers) deals with a new situation: users are less and less able to access the search results, but instead read the answers generated by AI. Your potential client at ChatGPT asks "Who are the CEO agents of B2B Saas in Taiwan?" If you're not in the answer, the back site will not be able to pick up this person. The traditional SEO consultants are better ranked and hit, and the AEO consultants are better at the odds of being extracted from models and used as a source of answers.
The technical base of the two people overlaps, and structural data, content clarity, power signals are key, but they are measured differently. SEO looks at keyword rankings and natural flows; AEO depends on how your brand is quoted in the various AI engines, what is mentioned is wrong, whether competition is more frequent than you. A consultant who'll only give you Google Search Console's screenshots can't answer these questions.
Pick the 7th standard for the AEO consultant.
Put the seven below in front of the interview. Any lack of clarity made it worth more time to ask.
- Can you produce verifiable visibility data? Instead of saying "will increase exposure" in general terms, it is possible to actually present how you were quoted in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and other engines, as well as the frequency of tracking.
- There is no actual experience of fighting in Taiwan and Chinese. The plethora of AI answers are much different from English, and the direct use of English playsbook is often controversial.
- Content capacity is not their core, not outsourcing. 70% of AEO's successes and failures are in the content structure, and it can be seen if each other really know how to write clean paragraphs.
- The technology can stand. The basics of schema, physical, internal connection, reptile accessibility, are there any systematic check processes.
- Delivery specific. I want to see a real trial report or a case sample, not a schematic image.
- Measurement indicators are transparent. Ask what tools they use, how often they pay back, how they define success.
- Truth and uncertainty. The logic of the reference to the AI engine is not entirely manageable, and it is more credible to say what can be done and what cannot be done than to guarantee the ranking.
Fee collection: What about Taiwan? Catch!
Let's start with the conclusion that AEO and GEO services are not yet the same price in Taiwan, which is very different. The market that you can access with Tenten can be divided into roughly three bands, depending on the size of your website, content, and whether it is continuously monitored.
- One-time review (diagnosis gap, list of actions): About $30,000 to 80,000. It is appropriate for companies that want to know their own situation first.
- Project type guide (schema layout, focus content restructuring, physical creation): approximately NT$ 150,000, range.
- Monthly Costed Content Engine Visibility Monitoring: About NT$50,000 to 200,000 per month, depending on the quantity of content produced and the number of engines tracked per month.
Be careful with the apparently low rates. A few thousand dollars a month is called an AEO, usually just to sell an old SEO service under a different name and not really to track references to the AI engine.

Three patterns of collection.
Which mode to choose depends on whether you're missing judgment or capacity. If you don't even know how poorly you can see in the AI engine, buy the most cost-effective one-time audit, spend a small sum on a clear gap map, and decide whether to throw more. The project type is more appropriate if there is an internal content team, there is only a lack of direction and technology. If you want to stay within the AI answer without a long-term human capacity to produce content, the monthly cost-effective content engine is monitored, because the AEO doesn't end once, the model will be updated, the competition will follow.
Five questions we have to ask when we talk.
- How do you measure my current AI visibility? What tools, what engines?
- Can I see a real review or results report you've done?
- Have you ever done a similar case in this industry or in the middle market?
- What was the concrete delivery and milestone of the 90 days before?
- What is your review and adjustment mechanism if the citation remains unchanged three months later?
Visibility is not made out of promises, it's made every week to find out how AI answers questions about you, and then adds the content to the structure.— Tenten GEO consultant team
Use 30 days to verify that a consultancy is not worth renewing.
There is no need to sign a contract at the outset. Give each other a 30-day observation window to see if he first creates a visual baseline, whether he points to errors in the context you were quoted, whether he hands over a list that can be executed rather than imposed. All three of these things mean that they're really doing AEO, not the packaged SEO. If you want to have a map of your gaps, you can have 30 minutes of GEO diagnosis, and we'll use the actual AI engine to ask you how you're being answered, which is the best starting point for evaluating any consulting.
